OGREISH SRD

The OGREISH system reference document is a role-playing storygame framework used by Where Fields Go Fallow and our upcoming two games Under A Bloodied Banner and its mother, UNTETHERED, designed by Christian Svalander. It is released under the OGREISH System License (OSL), allowing you to use it however you prefer.

Introduction

The OGREISH framework was an experiment that emerged to escape complex, number-heavy RPG systems. Evolving over the years, its design shifted towards a fiction-first approach, aiming to streamline and simplify the gaming experience for effortless, low-prep play.

At its core, OGREISH uses traits and facets – descriptive labels instead of numerical values – to construct D6 dice pools. The aim of the design was to bridge the gap between story and mechanics, allowing players to discuss mechanics without leaving the narrative. Character arcs and plot hooks are integrated into gameplay for a character-centric perspective, offering cues for players and the setting, and are tightly integrated with the character development process. OGREISH aims for a lean, conversation-friendly experience. It is continually open to player feedback and adaptation.
